Kenneth G. Faulkner, PhD

Ken has 22 years of experience in the design and execution of pharmaceutical studies with imaging endpoints, including the use of x-ray, CT, MRI, PET, ultrasound, and DXA across a variety of therapeutic areas.
Ken was a member of the Board of Directors for the International Society of Clinical Densitometry for six years, where he developed and taught the bone densitometry certification course. He has served as a board member for the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technology, participated as an advisory member to the FDA Medical Devices division, and currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Osteoporosis International, and the Journal of Clinical Densitometry.
Prior to joining Perceptive, Ken was a co-founder of Synarc, a medical imaging core laboratory started in 1998. While at Synarc, he held various leadership positions including Medical Director, Vice President of Business Development, and Vice President of Scientific Services. In addition to his central laboratory experience, Ken worked at GE Healthcare for five years, where he served as the Chief Scientist and Director of Marketing and Product Development for the Lunar bone densitometry business unit.
Ken received his PhD from the University of California Berkeley and then joined the University of California San Francisco as an Assistant Professor of Radiology. While at UCSF, Ken researched the use of various imaging techniques for the assessment of bone and cartilage disease. He holds three patents related to the use of imaging for the assessment of osteoporosis and has published over 70 scientific articles in the areas of osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment.
