Perceptive Discovery Appoints Sean Carlin, PhD, as Senior Vice President of Scientific Strategy

Veteran translational radiopharmaceutical leader brings more than 30 years of experience advancing radioligand therapies from discovery through first-in-human clinical trials

Boston, MA — May 28, 2026 – Perceptive Discovery, a leading provider of integrated preclinical and translational solutions supporting radiopharmaceutical and oncology drug development, today announced the appointment of Sean Carlin, PhD, as Senior Vice President of Scientific Strategy, marking a strategic return of one of the industry’s most experienced translational radiopharmaceutical leaders to the broader Perceptive organization.

Dr. Carlin joins Perceptive Discovery with more than three decades of experience spanning translational sciences, radiopharmaceutical development, molecular imaging, and clinical strategy. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in advancing novel imaging agents and targeted radiotherapies from early discovery through clinical translation and first-in-human evaluation.

In his new role, Dr. Carlin will help guide Perceptive Discovery’s scientific and translational strategy across radioligand therapy (RLT), oncology imaging, and precision medicine programs. He will work closely with sponsors to accelerate development pathways, strengthen translational study design, and support data-driven decision-making from preclinical research through clinical development.

“Sean is one of the most respected translational scientists in the radiopharmaceutical industry, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the Perceptive organization,” said Ben Murphy, CEO of Perceptive Discovery. “His return reinforces our long-standing commitment to scientific excellence and translational leadership in radioligand therapy. Sean’s deep expertise spanning discovery research, translational strategy, and clinical development will further strengthen our ability to help sponsors advance next-generation therapies with greater confidence, precision, and speed.”

Prior to joining Perceptive Discovery, Dr. Carlin served as Vice President of Translational Sciences at Abdera Therapeutics, where he led translational strategy for antibody-based precision radiopharmaceutical therapies, including support for a first-in-human Actinium-225 targeted therapy program. Earlier in his career, he served as Principal Scientist within Invicro’s Scientific & Medical Services organization, now part of Perceptive Discovery, where he advised pharmaceutical and biotech sponsors on radiopharmaceutical development, regulatory strategy, and clinical trial design. His return brings back longstanding institutional knowledge and translational expertise that have helped shape the organization’s scientific foundation in radiopharmaceutical development.

Dr. Carlin also held leadership and faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Weill Cornell Medical College, where he directed translational imaging and radiopharmaceutical research programs and published extensively in molecular imaging and radiopharmacology.

“I’m delighted to return to the broader Perceptive organization at such an important moment for the radioligand therapy field,” said Dr. Carlin. “We have reached a pivotal point where speed, precision, and experience will drive the clinical and commercial success of RLT. Together with Perceptive Discovery’s unmatched expertise, we have an opportunity to redefine how next-generation radioligand therapies are evaluated and translated to the clinic, setting new benchmarks grounded in uncompromising scientific excellence.”

The appointment reflects Perceptive Discovery’s continued investment in expanding its scientific leadership and integrated capabilities supporting radiopharmaceutical development, including translational imaging, dosimetry, radiochemistry, biodistribution, and IND-enabling studies.
